Impact Journey

We are a youth-driven movement

Team Illuminate is a youth-driven environmental organization transforming how young people learn, lead, and act for the planet. Founded in 2021, we strengthen environmental education in schools, nurture student leadership, and mobilize youth for real, local impact. Through our environmental education programs, storytelling, and youth-led grassroots projects, we have reached over 5,000 students and youth, engaged 40+ schools across Lagos, Benue, and Abuja, and built a growing community of 200 young changemakers from 14 countries.

Our mission is simple yet powerful; to illuminate the Earth with sparks of youth action, inspiring sustainable choices and meaningful change in communities.

Core Philosophy

Our mission is simple yet powerful; to illuminate the Earth with sparks of youth action. Our approach combines education, storytelling, and action, empowering youth with the tools and opportunities to lead locally relevant environmental solutions.

Our Story

From small recycling drives in schools by a 15-year-old girl to international collaborations across 14 countries, we’ve grown into a thriving community of changemakers united by one goal; to protect the planet through action, education, and collaboration.

I often wondered why thousands of people could walk past piles of burning waste and thick smoke without saying anything. When I talked to my friends about cleaning our streets or finding a solution, many laughed it off and some even said it was embarrassing to do so. That silence and discomfort sparked something in me. I started asking myself: What would it take for people to care enough to act?
