Youth Mobilization and Action

Overview

Building a global movement of young changemakers.

Our youth mobilization initiatives connect young people across borders to design, lead, and scale community-driven environmental action.

why it matters

Young people today are acutely aware of the environmental crisis unfolding around them, yet they often feel powerless to influence it. They see news of climate disasters, read about policy failures, and inherit a planet in decline, all while being told to wait their turn to lead. This disconnect between their urgent concern and their perceived lack of agency creates a generation caught between anxiety and inaction. Meanwhile, environmental challenges don’t respect borders, and neither should the solutions. Yet young people working on sustainability in their local communities often operate in isolation, unaware that peers across the city, country, or world are grappling with similar challenges and discovering solutions that could be adapted and scaled.

Without networks that facilitate connection and knowledge-sharing, promising local initiatives remain exactly that, local and limited, when they could spark movements that ripple across communities and continents.

When young people shift from passively receiving programs to actively creating solutions, something clicks. They stop waiting for permission to care about their futures and start building those futures themselves.

The solutions they create are grounded in their own communities, relevant to local contexts, resonate with local cultures, and are more likely to last because they’re owned by the people who live there. Connected to fellow youths around the world, young people discover they’re not alone in this work.

They share what’s working, adapt ideas from other places, and bring new strategies home. A group’s success with a school garden in one city becomes inspiration for another’s urban farming project. A beach cleanup campaign spreads across coastlines. Real change multiplies when young people learn from each other.

The power of youth

“Young people don’t inherit the future—they create it, together, one organized act of refusal and reimagining at a time.”
